Commitment to diversity & inclusion

We embrace and celebrate diversity across our company and in the communities we serve.   Many groups that serve diverse populations have recognized us for these efforts. Our recognitions and awards include:

  • Black EOE Journal named Aetna to its 2018 Best of the Best lists: Top Employer & Top LGBTQ-Friendly Employer.
  • Disability Equality Index (DEI), Disability: IN recognized Aetna as one of the 2018 Best Places to Work for People with Disabilities, scoring 100 on the DEI.
  • DiversityInc named Aetna once again to its Top 50 Companies for Diversity in 2018 Aetna placed #30 on the Top 50 list and #12 on the Top Companies for Employee Resource Groups (ERG) Specialty List.
  • Aetna was named to the Diversity Best Practices Inclusion Index for 2018, scoring its Seal of Approval. The index helps organizations see how their diversity-and-inclusion policies and practices stack up against others. 
  • The Hispanic Association of Corporate Responsibility Corporate Inclusion Index (HACR CII) recognized Aetna for business practices and corporate strategies around HACR’s four pillars: Employment, Procurement, Philanthropy, and Governance.   
  • Aetna received a perfect score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) workplace equality. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2018 Corporate Equality Index is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertaining to LGBTQ employees.
  • Aetna was named to the Latina Style 50 list for 2018. The list recognizes the best companies for Latinas to work in the U.S.
  • Minority Business News (MBN USA) recognized Aetna among the 2017 Corporate 101: America’s Most Admired Corporations for Supplier Diversity for demonstrated commitment to growing and developing minority-owned enterprises and “positively impacting the manner in which our world does business.”
  • For the 18th time, Aetna was named by The National Association for Female Executives as one of the 2018 NAFE Top Companies for Executive Women. The list highlights companies whose practices identify and promote successful women. Aetna is included in NAFE’s Hall of Fame. 
  • National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and members of the National Business Inclusion Consortium (NBIC) selected Aetna as a 2018 Best-of-the-Best Corporation for Inclusion.
  • Aetna was recognized with a National Organization on Disability, Leading Disability Employer Seal™, for our exemplary disability hiring and employment practices.
  • For 10 consecutive years, since 2008, an Aetna employee has been honored with the Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award. Dr. Sunny Ramchandani, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, was recognized in 2018.
  • In 2018, Aetna was named to Professional Woman’s Magazine “Best of the Best” (Top Insurance Company). The Magazine polls hundreds of Fortune 1000 companies for its Best of the Best evaluations.
