Need medical and prescription coverage with Medicare?

Do you need a plan that covers your drugs and your medical care? You may want a Medicare Advantage plan with prescription drug coverage (MAPD). These are Part C and Part D plans. Some Aetna Medicare Advantage plans come with added benefits like dental care, eyewear or hearing aid coverage. And some plans have premiums as low as $0.

An MAPD gives you the ease of bundled coverage. Coverage for your doctor visits, hospital stays and drug benefits, all in one place.

Things to know before you enroll in Medicare Part D

About to enroll? Before you do, here are some things to consider:

  • Watch out for the Part D late enrollment penalty. This is a permanent increase to your Part D costs. It raises your premium if you don’t have Medicare drug coverage for 63 days or more after your Initial Enrollment Period ends.
  • Keep the annual out-of-pocket maximum in mind. Once you have spent $2,100 on out-of-pocket costs, your plan will pay full cost for covered drugs. This resets at the end of each plan year.
  • The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan can help you manage costs. This plan doesn’t lessen costs, but it allows you to spread monthly payments throughout the plan year.
  • Medicare Part D may help cover some vaccines. If you’ve been wondering, “Does Medicare cover the shingles vaccine?” the answer is it might. Learn more about when it does

Inflation Reduction Act and Medicare Part D benefits

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) helps improve Medicare. It expands Medicare benefits. And it helps lower out-of-pocket drug costs. Learn how the IRA improves Medicare Part D benefits.
