Dental Freedom-of-Choice Video

Hi, I’m David, and this is Aetna’s Freedom of Choice, the dental plan design that’s two plans in one. Aetna’s dental Preferred Provider Organization, or PPO, and Dental Maintenance Organization, or DMO. Think of it this way. The PPO is a car, and the DMO is a bus pass for the coolest bus ever. With the PPO, you can drive anywhere, see any dentist you’d like, but you only get one tank of gas, your annual maximum benefit. See an in-network dentist to stretch your maximum further. The DMO bus only stops at dentists in Aetna’s DMO network, but this route is extensive. Over 81,000 available dental practice locations. There’s no deductible, plus, your pass never expires. There’s no annual dollar maximum. With Freedom of Choice, you get the bus pass and the keys to the car. You can switch from one plan to the other every month. You’re free to choose the dental benefits or insurance plan that works best for you when it works best for you.

That’s Aetna’s Freedom of Choice.

*In Texas, the Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan is known as the Participating Dental Network (PDN).

** In Illinois, DMO plans provide limited out-of-network benefits.  However, in order to receive maximum benefits, members must select and have care coordinated by a participating primary care dentist.  Illinois DMO is not an HMO.
