With our new Provider Access Application Programming Interface (API), your doctor or other providers who are actively treating you can see your health info through their electronic health record (EHR) or other approved systems. You’re in control. If you don’t want to share your health info this way, you can choose to stop at any time. Just use the ”Manage who can view your data” option.
What is the Provider Access API?
It’s a safe and secure connection that lets your provider view certain health info directly through their EHR or other approved systems. This means they can see key details about your health history without needing faxed forms or extra paperwork.
How provider access APIs benefit you
Sharing your health data helps your provider coordinate your care, move prior authorizations faster, and help make sure you get timely, effective treatment.
With this connection, your provider can:
See a more complete picture of your health
Including past diagnoses, procedures, lab results and other health info.
View claim and visit info
Sometimes the care you get may not show up in your provider’s system. The Provider Access API helps fill those gaps.
Coordinate your care more effectively
When your provider can see your full health history, it helps them understand your care, check on past treatments and see if you need any tests or services.
Reduce delays
Less time spent searching for health records or requesting documents means providers can make faster and more informed decisions about your care.
Participating health care providers are independent contractors and are neither agents nor employees of Aetna. The availability of any particular provider cannot be guaranteed, and provider network composition is subject to change.
