How FSAs Work |
With Aetna Inc.'s Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, you can set aside money on a pre-tax basis to reimburse yourself for eligible expenses. Depending upon your tax bracket and residency, using a spending account may be worth the equivalent of receiving a 20% to 50% discount on eligible services. How Do I Enroll? Elect to Participate Sign up for a health and/or dependent care spending account during your employer's enrollment period. Estimate Expenses Estimate your health and/or dependent care expenses for the following year by reviewing last year's costs and considering any family status changes that might impact your expenses, like marriage or the birth or adoption of a child. Determine Contributions Decide how much of your salary to put aside to fund your anticipated health and/or dependent care expenses. Remember, the total amount will be automatically deducted from your pay throughout the year. How Flexible Spending Accounts Work? Incur Expenses Obtain or receive eligible health and/or dependent care products or services. Expenses are considered incurred when the service is rendered and not when you are billed, charged or pay for these services. Submit Claims Send reimbursement requests for eligible health and/or dependent care expenses to your Aetna Inc.® Service Center. Your provider will submit your claims in some cases. Receive Reimbursement Get reimbursed with TAX-FREE MONEY from your spending account. Participants can have their payments automatically deposited into their savings or checking account through our direct deposit service. |
