Tennessee Health Plan Choices (2017)

Special Enrollment Period

Aetna is withdrawing from the Individual health insurance market in Tennessee at the end of 2017. We will not offer Individual plans in 2018. New and existing Aetna members will need to shop for a new 2018 plan with a different carrier during the upcoming 2018 open enrollment period beginning on November 1, 2017.

Thank you for your interest in Aetna individual health insurance products. The 2017 Annual Open Enrollment Period in the individual market ended on January 31, 2017.

If you have a Qualifying Life Event (e.g. marriage, birth, adoption), you may be eligible to enroll through a Special Enrollment Period. For information about Qualifying Life Events you may go to HealthCare.gov. You may also call the Health Insurance Marketplace at 1-800-318-2596 for more information and help applying for coverage through the federal exchange. Note that income-based premium and cost-sharing subsidies are only available with coverage purchased through the Marketplace.

If you are looking for a subsidized plan through the Marketplace, please note that Aetna will not be participating in the Marketplace in 2017. Click here to be connected with an online collaborator who can assist you with Marketplace plans or visit HealthCare.gov. Savings on monthly premiums (through a tax credit or subsidy) is available only with Marketplace plans.

If you have had a Qualifying Life Event and want to apply for Aetna coverage, please follow the instructions below.

Bronze Level TN Aetna Bronze Deductible Only HSA Eligible PD

About the metallic levels

Health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act are assigned a metallic level (Bronze, Silver, Gold). The metallic level is based on how much of the total health care cost the plan pays versus what a member will pay out of pocket.

Metallic Level Metallic Level Description
Bronze Level For Bronze level plans, the plan will pay about 60 percent of covered health care costs. Bronze plans tend to have lower monthly premiums, but have higher out-of-pocket costs for deductibles, copayments and coinsurance for covered health care services.
Silver Level For Silver level plans, the plan will pay about 70 percent of covered health care costs. Silver level plans tend to have higher monthly premiums compared to Bronze plans, but out-of-pocket costs for health care services are lower compared to Bronze plans.
Gold Level For Gold level plans, the plan will pay about 80 percent of covered health care costs. Gold level plans tend to have lower out-of-pocket costs for deductibles, copayments and coinsurance for health care services, but have higher monthly premiums.
