We help you stay healthy and meet your day-to-day needs with our Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNP). The D-SNP works alongside your Medicaid benefits. And you may be able to keep your existing doctors and providers.
If you're not eligible for a Medicare D-SNP, you may have other choices available. Like a Low Income Subsidy (LIS), also known as Extra Help. Learn more about these options.
Help with everyday expenses
Aetna® Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans, or D-SNPs, provide extra support to help pay for everyday expenses like healthy groceries, utilities and even rent.
That’s on top of our medical coverage and $0 copay for covered Part D medicines at in-network pharmacies. Plus, we have D-SNPs with dental, vision and hearing benefits.
We make it easy, too. We’ll send you an Aetna Medicare Extra Benefits Card that comes pre-loaded with monthly allowances called “Wallets.”
Wallets vary by state, but in California and Indiana, you get a Wallet you can use to buy healthy foods like fruit, veggies, meat and dairy products.
You can also use your Wallet to help pay for select over-the-counter, or OTC, health and wellness products like pain relievers and cold and flu medicines.
This year, we’re also introducing the Extra Supports Wallet, our most flexible allowance ever, in all states except California and Indiana. You can use the Extra Supports Wallet to help pay for healthy foods and OTC items along with several other approved products and services, including rent or mortgage assistance, personal care items, utilities, transportation and pet care supplies.
Not eligible for a D-SNP? Aetna has other Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plans for those with limited income and resources that work with the federal Extra Help program. These plans could help you with your prescription medications. And they offer you an Extra Benefits Card with different benefits.

D-SNPs include our new Extra Benefits Card. Depending on your plan*, you may be able to use your card for some everyday expenses. Things like:

- Over-the-counter (OTC) items

- Pet supplies (not available in NJ)
