Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

What parents of kids with ADHD can do

If your child has ADHD, here are some ideas that can help both you and your child.

Stay positive and healthy yourself. Take breaks and seek support when you need it. Find ways to reduce stress, such as regular exercise, meditation or yoga. And get enough sleep.

Follow a routine. Establish a daily schedule and stick to it. Make it simple enough that your child isn’t overwhelmed. Create a quiet place where he or she can go to unwind.

Have clear expectations, and keep your rules simple. Notice and reinforce good behavior.

Provide healthy meals and snacks, and ensure that your child gets enough sleep.
