Get answers 24/7 with our Ask a Nurse program

What should you do for a toddler who wakes up in the middle of the night with a fever? When does a nagging stomach pain require a trip to the emergency room? Health questions often pop up when you least expect them. Our Ask a Nurse program can give you peace of mind knowing there’s a medical professional available by phone or email 24 hours a day.*

Our registered nurses can:

  • Help you understand procedures and treatment options
  • Give you tips for talking with your doctor and other health care professionals
  • Counsel you about your medicine and alert you to possible side effects
  • Help avoid trips to the doctor’s office or hospital

Helping you find relief from depression

Depression isn’t just feeling down in the dumps or stressed out once in a while. It’s a serious illness. It can affect your thoughts, feelings, physical health, relationships and your job.

About 1 of every 20 Americans gets depressed every year.1 But there is good news. Most people who get the right treatment begin to feel better within a few weeks.

We offer a number of programs to identify and treat depression:

  • Aetna Depression Management – Being diagnosed quickly is important. So is getting the right treatment. We work with doctors around the country to make this easier for them.
  • Online risk assessment – This tool is free and confidential. It can help you gauge your risk for depression.
  • Employee Assistance Programs – Our program can help with many mental health issues. You’ll find around-the-clock telephone counseling, as well as online resources.

Start living your healthiest life

You can also join a coach-supported online community to connect with others working on the same healthy changes. You’ll be able to share stories, ask for advice and exchange encouragement with likeminded people who know exactly what you’re going through. Two communities we recommend exploring are:

  • CaféWell – This free, anonymous site connects you with other people who are focused on their health and well-being. You can join health activities, network with other members and wellness coaches, and get reliable information.
  • Patients Like Me – Through this online forum you can share your real-world health experiences in order to help yourself, other patients like you, and organizations that focus on your conditions.
