Dental care isn’t just about preventing cavities. It’s actually a vital part of your overall health. Having dental coverage helps ensure you and your family get the care you need at prices you can afford. At Aetna, we’ve created a range of dental benefits and insurance plans to fit a wide variety of needs and budgets. Our dental offerings include:
We have teamed with a variety of companies both big and small to create dental plans that match the needs of employees like you. Each plan type has its own advantages, so you’re sure to find one you like.
This easy-to-use plan combines the advantages of a primary care dentist (PCD) with wide coverage and built-in cost savings.
Enjoy the flexibility of visiting any licensed dentist without a referral. You can also select from a range of deductibles and benefits levels.
This traditional fee-for-service plan gives you the freedom to visit any licensed dentist for covered services. Simply pay your dentist upfront and then get reimbursed.
With this design, you can switch back and forth between an indemnity plan and a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan that lets you visit any licensed dentist without a referral. That way you can sample the services of each and see which one you like best.
If your employer doesn’t offer dental insurance, you have options.
We offer dental insurance directly to consumers in Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Illinois and Pennsylvania.
Or you can purchase a Vital Savings by Aetna® discount card. Show the card at a participating dental office and receive 15 percent to 50 percent off the cost of most services.1 You pay a monthly or annual fee (your choice), and use the card as much as you wish.
Vital Savings also gives you discounts on eye exams, hearing exams and weight-loss programs, as well as other health-related services.
Vital Savings is not available in Montana or Vermont.
1 Actual costs and savings vary by provider and geographic area.
Dental benefits and Dental insurance plans are offered, underwritten and/or administered by Aetna Dental Inc., Aetna Dental of California Inc., Aetna Health Inc. and/or Aetna Life Insurance Company (Aetna). Each insurer has sole financial responsibility for its own products.

It provides Members with access to discounts at certain health care providers for medical and dental services. These discounts are discounted fees according to schedules negotiated by Aetna Life Insurance Company for the Vital Savings by Aetna discount program. The range of discounts provided under the Program will vary depending on the type of provider and type of service received. The Program does not make payments directly to the participating providers of medical and dental services. Each Member is obligated to pay for all services or products but will receive a discount from those health care providers who have contracted with the Discount Medical Plan Organization to participate in the Program. Aetna Life Insurance Company, 151 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT 06156, 1-888-238-4825, is the Discount Medical Plan Organization.
