Dental Plan Information
You will have a choice of two dental plans, both provided by Aetna. Employees may enroll in a dental plan through FCPS without enrolling in a medical plan through FCPS. Click on each dental plan below to learn more.
The Aetna DPPO includes the following features:
- A large nationwide network of dental providers.
- In and out-of-network benefits are available (although a lower level of benefits applies if services are received from out-of-network providers).
- Preventive care is covered at 100% if received from an in-network provider.
- An extra cleaning or visit to a dentist to treat gum disease if you are pregnant or have diabetes or heart disease.
- An annual maximum benefit of $2,000* in network and $1,500 out of network.
- Preventive cleanings do not count towards the in-network and out-of-network annual maximum.
- Orthodontia treatment is available for children under age 20; the lifetime orthodontia maximum is $1,500 in-network and $1,000 out-of-network.
*Effective January 1, 2022. The annual maximum for 2021 is $1,750.
The Aetna DMO/DNO includes the following features:
- All services must be received from in-network providers; out-of-network benefits are not available.
- Diagnostic, preventive, and basic restorative care covered at 100% when received from participating providers.
- An established fee schedule for each covered procedure which allows you to estimate your out-of-pocket cost before care is received.
- No maximum annual benefit.
- An extra cleaning or visit to a dentist to treat gum disease if you are pregnant or have diabetes or heart disease.
- Orthodontic procedures are covered for adults and children when received from a participating provider.
- Lower premiums than the DPPO plan.
¹In Virginia, the DMO plan is known as the Dental Network Only plan (DNO). DNO in Virginia is not an HMO. To receive maximum benefits, members must choose a participating primary care dentist to coordinate their care with network providers.
