Making connections for better care
A typical online health record is a simple repository of information. One person enters information about his flu shot; another keeps track of when she gets her mammograms.
The Aetna Personal Health Record is a little different. (And by “different,” we mean “better.”)*
Our tool syncs up with each person’s claims data. This means information is pre-filled, such as that recent doctor visit for an awful migraine. And because our tool often knows about the person’s prescriptions, it can send alerts about potential drug interactions and side effects.
Members can:
- Enter their family medical history, such as Aunt Sally’s allergy to penicillin and cousin Lee’s diagnosis of prostate cancer. This can help doctors guide future care and plan health screenings
- List the vitamins and over-the-counter medications they take
- Give doctors permission to view their health summary
- Print their health summary and take it to a doctor visit
- Know when they are due for preventive screenings, such as a mammogram or colonoscopy
*Included for fully insured customers; available for a fee for self-insured customers.
