How to search for a doctor

DocFind®, Aetna's online provider directory, lets you search for doctors by name, gender, specialty, languages spoken, hospital and medical group affiliation and location.

To search for a doctor from DocFind, follow these steps:

Under the "Search by Location" tab:

• Pick one of the options in the "Search for" drop-down box.
• Pick one of the provider types in the "Type" drop-down box.
• Enter the zip, city, or county where the doctor is located.
• In the "Select a Plan" box, choose your type of benefits plan from the drop-down box.
• Click on the "Search" button to begin the search program.

Note that in the "Search Tips & FAQs" link on the left, the "DocFind Help" link provides information on the various plan names and types. Click on "Medical Plan Grid."

Also, you can narrow your search by name, group, specialty, languages spoken, gender, hospital affiliation and/or other criteria.

• Name: In the "Search by Name" tab, type the name of the doctor you are searching for.
• Group/IPA name: In the "Advanced Search" tab, select "Medical Group/IPA California" under "Search for." Type in the name of the group or IPA you are searching for.
• Specialty: In the "Search by Location" tab, select "Medical Specialists" under "Search for," then select the specialty type under "Type." Additional specialties are located under "More Specialties" at the bottom of the list.
• Languages spoken by the doctor: On the "Advanced Search" tab, select one of the languages from the "Language" drop-down box.
• Gender: On the "Advanced Search" tab, under the "Gender" drop-down box, select "Female," "Male" or "All Genders" (if you have no preference about the doctor's gender).
• Hospital affiliation: On the "Advanced Search" tab, select the hospital you would like the doctor to be affiliated with under the "Hospital Affiliation" drop-down box.

How to search for a hospital or a facility

To search for a hospital or facility from DocFind, follow these steps:

On the "Search by Location" tab:

• Enter the zip, city or county where the hospital or facility is located.
• Pick one of the options in the "Search for" drop-down box.
• Pick one of the provider types in the "Type" drop-down box.
• In the "Select a Plan" box, choose your type of benefits plan from the drop-down box.
• Click on the "Search" button to begin the search program.

Also, click on the "Advanced Search" tab to narrow your search by hospital or facility name and programs/recognitions that a hospital or facility may participate in. Or, in the "Search by Name" tab, type the name of the hospital or facility you are searching for.
