Each opportunity has a specific set of requirements. But most of our behavioral health roles require:

  • An active clinical license (LCSW, LSW, LPC, MSW, RN, PhD, MD, PsyD) 
  • Three to five years of experience in a clinical setting
  • Excellent communication and counseling skills
  • Computer literacy

We prefer that you also have experience in managed care or working with Medicare or Medicaid patients.

Care associate

As a care associate, you’ll work with a team of professionals who support our members with their care needs. You’ll talk to members about their mental health and substance abuse benefits. You may also help them find mental-health managed care programs, community treatment programs and support resources. Over time,  you’ll stay in touch to see how they’re doing and whether they are sticking with their treatment plans. You’ll report back to other professionals who share your level of caring and commitment.

Case management coordinator

As a case management coordinator for behavioral health, you’ll play a significant role in our case management process. You’ll use your people skills, critical thinking and clinical judgment to help members and their families cope with acute health events, longer-term conditions or both. 

We look at members’ needs holistically. Maybe a member will need educational support, or coordination among providers and programs. You may consult with case managers, supervisors, medical directors and other health programs. And you’ll provide your input and present cases for review at case conferences. You and your team will work toward one goal: The best possible outcome and a healthier, happier life for each member.

Clinical care manager

As a clinical care manager, you’ll make decisions that can help members gain their best physical and behavioral health. Using your experience, advanced clinical judgment and critical thinking skills, you’ll assess members and direct their care planning. You’ll coordinate with providers to arrange behavioral health and social services. You and your team of dedicated professionals will work to ensure the best use of services and resources. And that means our members can have the best, most cost-effective outcomes.

Care planner

As a care planner, you’ll be a key player on one of our behavioral health clinical teams. You’ll monitor the mental health and substance abuse services or treatment options our members receive. For each person, your work may touch on preadmission, concurrent planning, discharge or retrospective review. You’ll do case-related research and coordinate with both internal and external resources. On some days, you may help members with claims or benefit issues. Others may need referrals to our Employee Assistance Program or community support services. Throughout, you’ll look at care from a holistic perspective to help each person gain the best results and a healthier, happier life.

Social worker

As a social worker in our Behavioral Health area, you’ll manage support for members with complicated needs. They may be engaged in case management or disease management because of disabilities, chronic conditions, illness or injury. You’ll take a holistic view to gain the best results for their behavioral health, rehabilitation, social and quality of life needs. By focusing on quality of care, you also may prevent hospital trips and the need for help with daily activities. You may arrange long-term consultant referrals and home care visits. Your strategies may include community resources as well. If you specialize in a certain disease area, other professionals on our teams also may tap into your expertise.

Associate medical director, behavioral health (MD)

As an associate medical director, you’ll lead a team of behavioral health professionals to ensure that our members receive the right care – and at reasonable cost. You’ll provide medical oversight, consultation and training for the team. You’ll personally manage the high-risk cases. You’ll oversee them throughout the treatment process. And you’ll make decisions about medical necessity of care. For the overall utilization management program, you’ll be involved in developing standards. Then you’ll create action plans and later evaluate results. You’ll also make decisions about medical policies. These might include criteria for medical necessity, clinical practice guidelines and the use of technology.
