Behavioral Health Programs

Control costs and help improve health

Mental health conditions are more common than you may think. And the cost to your workplace is significant and growing.

Get help to control costs and increase your employees’ chances to improve their overall health. Choose integrated services that deliver a total experience. Get programs and services tailored to each employee's needs.

Medical and psychiatric case management

People with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma and heart disease are more likely to have problems with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse.

One way to help improve the health of your employees -- and to control costs -- is to offer our Med-Psych Program. It helps identify employees who have a behavioral health condition and a co-existing chronic medical condition.

Participants learn steps to manage their conditions and stick with their treatment plans. They can also receive case management services to help coordinate care.

Depression and disease management

Depression often occurs with chronic illness. That’s why we include depression screening and referrals as part of our Aetna Health ConnectionsSM disease management program. Employees can get support if they are at risk for any of more than 35 chronic health conditions.

The program helps employees deal more effectively with their doctors and take an active role in their health care. By identifying and managing a condition early, employees can help avoid complications and improve their quality of life.

Behavioral health disease management programs

Behavioral health disease management programs can give your employees extra support to help keep them more productive and healthy on the job. Programs include:

  • Alcohol Disorder Disease Management
  • Anxiety Disease Management
  • Depression Disease Management

You can combine these programs with an Aetna health plan or use them with a different health plan.

Your employees will be able to use:

  • Self-screening tools to understand their health risks
  • Educational materials to learn more about their condition
  • Case management services to help coordinate their care and increase compliance with treatment

Primary care behavioral health support programs

For many individuals, their family doctor is the clinician with whom they feel most comfortable, as well as their entry point into the health care system.

Here is an overview of four programs  we offer  to assist primary care physicians with providing members access to needed mental health care.

  • Through the Integrated Primary Care Behavioral Health Program your employees
can receive behavioral health services right in their primary care doctor's office.
Here is an overview  of how this program can provide brief, focused intervention.
