HARTFORD, Conn., March 22, 2011 — DiversityInc announced that Aetna (NYSE: AET) was named to its “2011 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity®” list. Aetna continues to make significant progress, moving up 11 spots to 19th place this year. In addition, Aetna once again ranked in the top ten companies for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) employees and for employees with disabilities. In November 2010 the company also won a “DiversityInc Special Award for Unique Diversity-Management Achievements,” as a “Top Company for Employee Resource Groups” (ERGs). “This is another milestone on Aetna's diversity journey. This recognition demonstrates that integrating Aetna’s diversity strategy into our business practices is making a meaningful difference for Aetna employees, the people we serve, and the communities in which we live and work.” said Raymond Arroyo, Aetna’s Chief Diversity Officer. To qualify for The DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list, participating companies must have more than 1,000 employees and complete a questionnaire filled with empirical questions. According to DiversityInc, Aetna demonstrated strength in four areas: CEO commitment; human capital; internal and external communication; and supplier diversity. “Aetna's move up 11 spots on the list is very well deserved,” said DiversityInc CEO Luke Visconti. “Former CEO and current Chairman Ron Williams' strong commitment to diversity management as a business driver is continuing with CEO Mark Bertolini, whose belief in diversity is personal and deep-rooted. The tireless efforts of Chief Diversity Officer Raymond Arroyo have enabled Aetna to emerge as a true diversity-management leader.” About Aetna About DiversityInc |
