HARTFORD, Conn., November 18, 2008 — Aetna (NYSE: AET) announced today that it has entered into a unique alliance with the Red Hat Society, a social organization devoted to helping women over the age of 50 "continue to have fun a lot longer and with a lot more gusto." As part of this association, Aetna has helped the society build a Virtual Health Fair on the Red Hat website that includes some of Aetna's industry-leading health and wellness tools.

"We believe in providing information to help people make more informed decisions on their health care, and we are glad to serve as a trusted resource for the Red Hat Society," said Frank McCauley, head of Aetna's Consumer Business Segment. "The Virtual Health Fair gives Red Hatters information that is particularly relevant to them and can help them improve their health and get the most out of their health benefits."

Some of the online resources available through the Virtual Health Fair are:

• Plan for Your Health (www.planforyourhealth.com), a public education campaign from Aetna and the Financial Planning Association that provides consumers with information to help them make health benefits and financial choices.
• Aetna InteliHealth® (www.intelihealth.com), a leading online health information resource. This site provides credible information from the most trusted resources, including Harvard Medical School and the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.
• The Women's Health page on Aetna's website, which contains information and resources on health-related issues for women of all ages.

The site also includes an interactive health quiz designed to educate Red Hatters on important health issues for women over the age of 50, such as heart disease, breast cancer and osteoporosis.

"The Red Hat Society is all about having fun, and in order for our members to be able to do that, they need to practice healthy living habits," said Debra Granich, Red Hat Society CEO. "The Virtual Health Fair is a great tool to learn and be informed about health issues in a fun way. Working with Aetna also gives our members access to health insurance plans, programs and information so that we can maximize our health and continue with our fun times."

Aetna Plan Options and Additional Services
Red Hatters will be able to select from a wide variety of health plan offerings. Those under age 65 can choose from Aetna Advantage Plan options,* including PPO-style plans; high-deductible health plans compatible with health savings accounts; preventive and hospital plans that combine coverage for preventive care with catastrophic coverage for services like inpatient hospital care and outpatient surgery; and an optional dental PPO plan. Each Aetna Advantage Plan is also available on a child-only basis, so parents can obtain health coverage for their children, even if no other family members enroll in the plan. The Aetna Advantage Plans are available to Red Hatters in 29 states and Washington, D.C.**

Medicare-eligible Red Hatters will also have access to Aetna's full suite of Medicare Advantage products, including HMO, PPO and Private-Fee-For-Service plans, as well as stand-alone Medicare prescription drug plans.

Red Hatters who enroll in an Aetna plan will also have access to a number of value-added options such as a Member Assistance Program (MAP) and Concierge Services, which can help individuals better manage work and life issues. These types of services are typically only offered to Aetna's larger customers.
