Aetna Signs Contract With Jupiter Medical Center

JUPITER, Fla.,March 17, 2008 — Aetna (NYSE: AET) announced today it has reached agreement with Jupiter Medical Center on a three-year contract renewal that will keep the hospital in Aetna's South Florida network until at least 2011. The agreement took effect March 1.

"We're very pleased to extend our relationship with Jupiter Medical Center," said Ruth Fricke, Aetna's head of network operations in Florida. "Network stability is very important to Aetna's members, and we work hard to provide them with broad access to high-quality hospitals and physicians."

Under the agreement, members of Aetna network-based plans will be able to continue receiving covered in-patient and out-patient services, at in-network rates, from Jupiter Medical Center, which operates a 163-bed, community-based acute care hospital in Jupiter, Fla. The agreement also covers Aetna Medicare members, who were not part of the previous contract.

Aetna provides and administers health benefits to more than 315,000 members in South Florida. Those members have access to a contracted network of 57 hospitals, 1,900 primary care physicians and 5,400 specialists.
