Aetna To Offer Healthfund® HRA To Small Group Customers

Agreement with flexible benefit service corporation will provide self-funded health reimbursement arrangement administrative services to Aetna's small group market

HARTFORD, Conn., January 29, 2008 — Aetna (NYSE: AET ) today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Flexible Benefit Service Corporation (Flex) to provide self-funded HRA (Health Reimbursement Arrangement) administrative services to Aetna’s Small Group Market, with the Aetna HealthFund HRA for Small Group. The agreement with Flex will enable Aetna to support the growing needs of the Small Group market. The HRA will be available nationally for Small Group customers (groups with 2 — 50 employees).

"The introduction of the HealthFund HRA to Small Group customers further differentiates Aetna in the market and solidifies our position as a leader in consumer directed healthcare," said Mary Claire Bonner, Head of Aetna Small and Middle Market. "By combining our consumer directed products with industry leading member tools such as price transparency and on-line personal health records, we are improving member engagement and providing small business owners with more options to help control health care costs."

As of January 1, 2008 Aetna’s Small Group customers have three HRA plan design options:

"The combination of Aetna’s consumer-directed products with Flex’s administrative services makes the HealthFund HRA a small group market leader," said Allen Wishner, CEO of Flexible Benefit Service Corporation. "Small business owners now have an increased opportunity to better control health insurance funds, while allowing employees to be further engaged in the healthcare transaction. These features truly encapsulate the HRA concept."

Aetna’s new suite of HealthFund® HRA plan options for Small Group customers allows those customers to choose from four different reimbursement options. The HRA can cover eligible expenses which include all section 213(d) expenses, expenses applied only to the deductible, all "health care" expenses (copays, coinsurance and deductible), or other limited "health care" related expenses such as dental, vision, and preventive care.
