Policy Modifications
Aetna members in areas affected by the recent hurricanes may refill their prescriptions early, if needed, and those who use Aetna's mail-order pharmacy can receive a prescription at an alternate delivery location or refill a prescription that may have been lost, damaged or destroyed in the storms.
Impacted Aetna members can seek urgent or emergency care anywhere, as needed. Aetna is monitoring the impact of the hurricanes on its network providers and working closely with its participating network providers, and will make further modifications to its policies as necessary to ensure members have access to care. Aetna will also adjust its policies to comply with any local, state or federal disaster executive orders or regulations issued related to these catastrophic events.
To help life, disability and long-term care members in the affected areas, Aetna is extending deadlines for filing claims, and modifying procedures such as those for collecting evidence of insurability.
Policy modifications are currently in place for the entire state of Louisiana and for the following 34 counties in Texas:
Angelina, Austin, Brazoria, Brazos, Chambers, Cherokee, Fort Bend, Galveston, Gregg, Grimes, Hardin, Harris, Houston, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Rusk, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Waller, Washington, and Wharton.
EAP available for those needing support
In the wake of the recent, damaging Gulf Coast storms, Aetna Behavioral Health reminds members that the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available for those in need of support. The Aetna EAP number is 1-888-AETNA-EAP (1-888-238-6232) and is available to anyone who may need help dealing with the destruction associated with the recent hurricanes. Aetna’s EAP professional counselors have experience dealing with traumatic events and may be able to recommend resources or assist family members, individuals and groups in recovery from any potential storm related trauma, whether or not they are enrolled in an Aetna employee assistance program.
