Aetna Signs Agreement With University Of Miami
Contract adds 900 new doctors to Aetna’s South Florida network
PLANTATION, Fla., December 7, 2006 — Aetna (NYSE: ΑET) announced today that it has reached agreement with the University of Miami on a new contract, expanding hospital and physician access for its members in South Florida.
Under the agreement, which took effect Dec. 1, members of Aetna’s commercial plans can receive covered in-patient and out-patient services, at in-network rates, from the University of Miami Hospital and Clinic, the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the Anne Bates Leach Eye Hospital, and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
In addition to the new hospitals, the agreement includes the University of Miami Medical Group, adding approximately 100 new primary care physicians and 800 new specialists to Aetna’s South Florida network.

"We’re committed to expanding access to hospitals and physicians for our members in South Florida, and we’re hopeful this broader network will help us add new customers as well."
Aetna provides health benefits to approximately 330,000 members in South Florida. Those members have access to a contracted network of 54 hospitals, 2,000 primary care physicians and 4,100 specialists.
