Fauquier Hospital, Aetna Sign HMO Agreement
FALLS CHURCH, Va., November 1, 2004 — Aetna (NYSE: ΑET) announced today that it has signed a three-year agreement with Fauquier Hospital, which will become a participating member of Aetna’s Northern Virginia HMO network for the first time.
Under the new contract, Aetna’s Northern Virginia HMO members will be able to access Fauquier Hospital for covered in-patient and out-patient services, at in-network rates. The hospital has participated in Aetna’s preferred provider organization (PPO) network for several years.
"We are pleased that so many more residents, living in Fauquier and surrounding counties, will now be able to obtain their health care services close to home at Fauquier Hospital," said Lionel Phillips, Fauquier Hospital’s chief financial officer.
"Northern Virginia is an extremely important market for Aetna," said Bill Stout, Aetna’s head of network operations for Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. "We strive to give members of all of our health plans access to a broad network of hospitals and physicians, and we’re very happy that Fauquier Hospital will now be an in-network option for both HMO and PPO members."
AIn Northern Virginia, Aetna members have access to a network of 113 hospitals, 825 primary care physicians and 1,932 specialists.
Located in Warrenton, Va., Fauquier Hospital is an 86-bed acute care hospital with a medical staff of 120 serving suburban Northern Virginia.
