Mark Bertolini Joins Aetna as Senior Vice President of Specialty Products

HARTFORD, Conn., February 4, 2003 — Aetna (NYSE: ΑET) today announced that it has appointed Mark Bertolini, 46, as senior vice president of specialty products, reporting to President Ronald A. Williams. Bertolini will be responsible for Aetna’s pharmacy benefit management and mail order, Aetna InteliHealth, dental and behavioral health businesses.

Bertolini joins Aetna from CIGNA HealthCare, where he was senior vice president of the regional segment, responsible for middle-market and pharmacy operations.

"The specialty businesses are critical to Aetna’s success," Williams said. "Mark has the right depth and breadth of experience to lead this important area for us as these product lines continue to develop and gain momentum in the marketplace.

"Our strategy calls for more closely integrating these businesses with our health benefits in order to provide more comprehensive solutions for our customers. We will continue to build on the key strengths in our specialty businesses, such as reinforcing our pharmacy benefits management capabilities with mail order services. We continue to enhance our position as one of the largest dental benefits companies, and focus on our behavioral health capabilities. With Aetna InteliHealth, we have established an award-winning consumer information portal that helps our members make informed decisions about their health care needs.

"I am confident that Mark’s product expertise and business knowledge will be invaluable to the continued growth and success of these business areas," Williams said.
