HARTFORD, Conn., October 25, 2002 — Aetna (NYSE: ΑET) today announced that R. David Yost, 55, president and chief executive officer of AmerisourceBergen Corporation, has been elected to the company's board of directors, effective immediately.

Yost has been president and chief executive officer of AmerisourceBergen Corporation, the world's leading pharmaceutical distributor, since AmeriSource Health Corporation merged with Bergen Brunswig Corporation to form AmerisourceBergen in 2001. Previously he was chairman and CEO of AmeriSource Health Corporation.
Yost has spent the last 28 years in the pharmaceutical distribution industry in various sales, operation and management positions. Previously, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force.
A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Yost also received a master's degree in business administration from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
Yost also serves on the board of directors of AmerisourceBergen Corporation.
