Aetna Chairman And CEO John W. Rowe, M.D. To Testify Before Congress On Genetic Testing And Privacy Issues
HARTFORD, Conn., September 9, 2002 — Aetna (NYSE: ΑET) Chairman and CEO Dr. John W. Rowe is scheduled to testify in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday, September 12, 2002, at 10:00am. Dr. Rowe’s testimony before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution will focus on issues related to the use and privacy of genetic information.
In a recent speech before the Inaugural Symposium on Genetic Privacy and Discrimination at the University of Rochester’s School of Medicine and Dentistry, Dr. Rowe called upon the medical profession, academics, policy makers and others to join Aetna in adopting guidelines for access to genetic counseling, genetic testing and the appropriate use of test results.
