InteliHealth Is A Strategic Component Of Aetna U.S. Healthcare’s Overall Internet Strategy

BLUE BELL, PA, March 29, 2000 — (NYSE: ΑET) Aetna U.S. Healthcare announced today that it has acquired all outside ownership in InteliHealth, its award-winning online health information subsidiary, as the company moves to a broader Internet strategy. The company is in discussions with one of the nation’s leading academic medical institutions, which would anchor expanded medical content on the InteliHealth website, and intends to announce this alliance shortly. InteliHealth plans to expand its professional services network, develop new health content and information on the site focusing on the health needs of children and minorities, and create a special Hispanic section.

"InteliHealth has built an extremely strong brand in the world of multimedia consumer health information and services," said Michael J. Cardillo, president of Aetna U.S. Healthcare, parent company of InteliHealth. "We anticipate that InteliHealth, which provides more than 2 million pages of health-related content to well over 1 million visitors a month, will expand services beyond its existing base and further develop its award-winning health content. InteliHealth is a critical component of our overall Internet strategy, which includes a companywide initiative to place the Internet at the center of all business transactions. We will use the Internet to empower consumers, health care professionals and plan sponsors with reliable health information, products and services."
