It may make sense to join a Medicare Rx Plan now, even if you don't currently use a lot of prescription drugs. If you didn't join a plan when you first became eligible, you may have to pay a penalty if you choose to join at a later date. If you have prescription drug coverage from a source other than Medicare now, you should be notified if your plan is as good as or better than the standard Medicare prescription drug plan. If it is, you will not have to pay a penalty if you decide to join a Medicare prescription drug plan now.
