Edward J. Ludwig has been Chairman of the Board of Becton, Dickinson and Company (“BD”) (global medical technology company) since 2002. He served as Chief Executive Officer from January 2000 to September 2011 and as President from May 1999 to December 2008. Mr. Ludwig joined BD as a Senior Financial Analyst in 1979. Prior to joining BD, Mr. Ludwig served as a senior auditor with Coopers and Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and as a financial and strategic analyst at Kidde, Inc. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the College of the Holy Cross and a member and past Chair of the Health Advisory Board for the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He also chairs the Advisory Board of the Hackensack (NJ) University Medical Center and is a Board member of Project Hope.
