Dental Medical Integration Program

From research to real-world results

Our mission is to keep members as healthy as possible — in every way possible. We were the first insurance and dental benefits company to publish a study showing how good dental health can reduce medical claims and improve overall health.1

Since 2006, we’ve teamed with Columbia University to conduct industry-changing research. Based on some of this research, we pioneered our Dental Medical IntegrationSM (DMI) program. View our 4-minute video. This initiative helps dental and medical benefits work together for better overall health and value.

Better health for your employees. A healthier benefits budget for clients.

Up to 20% of members can enjoy better health when their medical and dental information is integrated.2 DMI uses our advanced technology to automatically identify who can benefit most from better dental care. This includes people with diabetes, people with heart disease and pregnant women. The result: real cost savings and improved health, with no extra cost or paperwork.

Results that speak for themselves

Compared with members not in the program, DMI members2:

  • Received more preventive care.
  • Used fewer major and basic services.
  • Had fewer hospital admissions.
  • Had better control of their diabetes.
  • Had lower claims costs.

Extra dental benefits without extra costs or paperwork

DMI includes enhanced dental benefits covered at 100%.* No deductible or paperwork is needed, and the extra services do not count toward the member’s calendar-year maximum.
