How can you keep your insurance after losing your job?

COBRA

COBRA may give you the right to continue health coverage under certain conditions. Do you qualify?

    To be eligible for COBRA:
    • You must have been enrolled in your employer's health plan when you worked.
    • Your employer must continue to offer health benefits to their existing employees.

Sign up within 60 days

In order to continue coverage, you must sign up for COBRA within a certain time — typically within 60 days from your eligibility date. Prepare for a little sticker shock, though. The cost can be considerable.

Buy your own coverage similar to what you had through your employer

Don’t want to go on COBRA? No worries. We can help. Depending on where you live, Aetna offers many types of health plans to cover you and your family. All our plans include our suite of online tools and resources to help keep you healthy. See if we offer a plan in your area.
