Aetna Life Essentials: Emotional Services

The death of a loved one is one of the most stressful events a person experiences. Aetna understands this, and as a result, we have included the following in our Aetna Life Essentials program:

At the end of your life – You can find end-of-life information through our Compassionate Care website along with access to grief counseling services over the telephone

For your loved ones – Bereavement counseling services are available to your beneficiaries and immediate family members

At the end of your life...

Let's face it - a terminal illness is an extraordinarily stressful event for everyone involved. To help you and your loved ones cope, you will have access to a website that:

  • Helps you begin talking about end-of-life issues.
  • Provides end-of-life care information.
  • Gives you information about living wills and advance directives.
  • Includes printable checklists to help you organize your important papers and contacts.

For your loved ones...

Your death is likely to create a void in your loved ones' lives. Through Aetna Behavioral Health, we offer bereavement and grief counseling services to your beneficiaries for up to 12 months after you pass away.

Beneficiaries and family members of the deceased can have three telephone sessions.
