Services and programs to support your specialty medicine needs

Aetna Specialty Pharmacy® fills prescriptions for specialty drugs*. These types of drugs may be injected, infused or taken by mouth. Usually, you can't get these drugsat a local retail pharmacy. And they're not at Aetna's mail-order pharmacy, Aetna Rx Home Delivery®.

Specialty pharmacy: How to enroll

Specialty drugs often need special storage and handling. And they need to be delivered quickly.

When you order your specialty drugs from Aetna Specialty Pharmacy, you get many helpful services:
  • Free, secure delivery generally within 48 hours of confirming your order, or later if you want
  • Delivery to your home, doctor’s office or any other place you choose
  • Package tracking for prompt delivery
  • Training to self-inject your medicine
  • Flexible payment options for out-of-pocket costs, when necessary
  • Free injection supplies, such as needles, syringes, alcohol swabs, adhesive bandages and Sharps containers for needle waste, if needed

* Specialty medications through Aetna Specialty Pharmacy and the Specialty Pharmacy Network may not be available to California HMO members.  Talk to you doctor about the appropriate way to get the specialty medications you need.  Doctors may have agreed to dispense and administer these drugs to you themselves.  Or they may write a prescription so you can fill them at any participating retail or mail-order pharmacy.

Our team of experienced nurses and pharmacists help you understand how to use your medicine. And that you have the right dose. They can answer your questions and help you cope with your condition throughout your therapy.
