How can I learn more about pediatric and adolescent care?
Reminders are sent to HMO-based plan members with children at (or close to ) 13 months of age. The mailer encourages parents to plan a visit to their child's doctor to make sure their child receives all recommended shots. The reminder also stresses that many childhood diseases can be prevented if children get vaccines on time and lists the number and timing of each recommended shot a child should get before their second birthday.
Adolescents need to see their doctors regularly for physical exams and screenings, and to update immunizations. To reinforce the importance of protecting their children's health, we send parents of 12-year-olds reminders encouraging regular checkups. The reminder provides parents with information about what parents should know about immunizations and helpful tips and health resources for parents and preteens.
