About half of all pediatric office visits involve behavioral, psychosocial and/or educational concerns. Many doctors and pediatricians are caring for these children without psychiatric support.
To help address this, we created the Pediatric Behavioral Health Management Program. This shared pediatrician–child psychiatrist approach can help with the diagnosis and treatment of mood and behavior problems.
The program is open to pediatricians who treat children (ages 5-18) with Aetna medical and behavioral health benefits. It offers reimbursement for pediatric screenings and telephone consultations, as well as access to a child psychiatrist.
