Aetna's well-established "Culture of Caring"- a tradition of volunteerism and giving that has become part of the company's long history - is taken seriously. It is part of the company's mission statement and corporate goals. This social component of the corporate mission is supported with a volunteer program that has local organizing councils and programs to match employee contributions, such as an Annual Employee Giving Campaign, Disaster Relief and a Matching Gifts program. The national Points of Light Foundation honored Aetna in 2005 with the Award for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs.

Points of Light has also honored the following Aetna individuals and groups with the Daily Point of Light Award. This award celebrates the commitment these volunteers have made to help address critical needs in their communities.
