2008 Programs and Deadlines
*By 5 p.m. (Eastern). The system will not accept applications after the dates specified. Application Process The Aetna Foundation has an electronic grant application process for all programs in Hartford and Middletown. With few exceptions, our funding in Connecticut is limited to these two locations, where we have a strong employee presence. The following are guidelines for the application process:
Funding Restrictions Organizations receiving funding in the current calendar year for a multiyear grant are not eligible. Also, while organizations may apply for more than one program, the Foundation will approve only one grant per organization in a calendar year. Therefore, please carefully review other program categories and deadlines before you apply for a grant. Eligibility Nonprofit organizations with evidence of IRS 501(c)(3) designation or de facto tax-exempt status may apply for a grant, with the following exceptions:
Overview and Online Applications Health The Aetna Foundation will make grants to nonprofit organizations based in Hartford and Middletown whose main mission is to enhance the quality of health care or address disabilities and chronic diseases. For example:
We must receive applications by 4/28/08. Academic and Cultural Enrichment Through its 34th annual Academic and Cultural Enrichment Grants Program, the Aetna Foundation will make grants to nonprofit organizations based in Hartford and Middletown whose main mission is to provide academic or cultural enrichment opportunities for students in these two cities. Priority will be given to summer programs. Grants up to $10,000 will be awarded. We must receive applications by 3/3/08. Arts and Culture The Aetna Foundation will award grants to nonprofit organizations based in Hartford and Middletown whose main mission is to support arts and culture. In addition to providing enjoyment, the arts add immeasurably to a community's quality of life and economic development. Due to the variety of organizations and events, please provide all levels of event sponsorship on your grant application. Grants will be made in quarterly cycles. We must receive applications by 02/27/08, 04/28/08, 07/28/08 or 10/28/08. Supporting Neighborhoods The Aetna Foundation will award grants to nonprofit organizations based in Hartford and Middletown whose main mission is to improve economic strength and neighborhood revitalization in these two cities. Grants will range from $2,500 to $15,000. We must receive applications by 6/16/08. Sponsorships The Aetna Foundation will award grants to nonprofit organizations to sponsor fund-raising and other events, including walks, dinners, health fairs, or similar events in/or to support residents of Hartford and Middletown. The Foundation will give preference to events supporting health-related issues. Please provide all levels of event sponsorship on your grant application. Grants up to $10,000 will be made in quarterly cycles. We must receive applications by 02/27/08, 04/28/08, 07/28/08 or 10/28/08. Holiday Grants Through its 19th annual Holiday Grants Program, the Aetna Foundation will award grants to nonprofit organizations based in Hartford and Middletown whose main mission is to provide human service programs that focus on serving basic human physical and emotional needs during the holiday season.
