Application Process
The Aetna Foundation has an electronic grant application process for all programs in Hartford and Middletown. With few exceptions, our funding in Connecticut is limited to these two locations, where we have a strong employee presence. The following are guidelines for the application process:
  • The application process is electronic.
  • The Foundation has instituted cycles for program categories with deadlines for applications. Please refer to the close dates above and apply as appropriate.
  • While organizations may apply for grants in more than one program, the Foundation will fund only one grant per organization in a calendar year.

Funding Restrictions
Organizations receiving funding in the current calendar year for a multiyear grant are not eligible. Also, while organizations may apply for more than one program, the Foundation will approve only one grant per organization in a calendar year. Therefore, please carefully review other program categories and deadlines before you apply for a grant.

Eligibility
Nonprofit organizations with evidence of IRS 501(c)(3) designation or de facto tax-exempt status may apply for a grant, with the following exceptions:
  • Grants or scholarships to individuals
  • Religious organizations in support of their sacramental or theological functions
  • Advertising
  • Political causes and events
  • Multiyear requests
