African American Food & Nutrition: From Survival to Choice
1997 African American History Calendar

Healthful lifestyles and good nutritional practices are challenged daily within African American communities. High amounts of sugar, fats, cholesterol and calories are not uncommon in today's African American diet. Educational and community efforts targeting African Americans are helping to create awareness of the connection between diet, health promotion, and disease prevention. Aetna devoted its 1997 calendar to the achievements of nutritionists and chefs who can make a difference in the future health of the African American population.
