Tony March: Biography
Tony March is currently CEO of March/Hodge Automotive, which was recognized in 2003 as the largest black-owned automotive company in America. March/Hodge Automotive owns 22 dealerships in seven states and has sales of $427 million.
A native of Daytona, Florida, March earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Howard University. From 1971 to 1984, March was an engineer in the Fisher Body Division of General Motors. He graduated from the General Motors Dealer Academy in 1985. March was chairman of the General Motors Minority Advisory Council for 13 years.
Among his many honors, March was named Time magazine's 1996 Dealer of the Year, and the Hartford Courant's 1995 Business Leader of the Year. He is an active participant in several civic organizations, including the YMCA, Better Business Bureau and the United Negro College Fund. March is married to the former Gail Broussard, an electrical engineer who conducted reentry trajectory studies for Apollo 14 and 16 lunar missions. They have one daughter.
