Monitoring situation reports from the World Health Organization, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other authoritative bodies so that we are ready to enact our plans as needed:
- On virtually a daily basis, news reports discuss or speculate on developments or incidents related to avian flu or a potential pandemic. To assure that we take appropriate action on a timely basis. Aetna's medical staff is continuously monitoring information from the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other leading public health agencies monitoring the spread and potential epidemic risk of the avian flu virus. We are also working with public health and other regulatory agencies to assure that up-to-date clinical and epidemiological information is translated into appropriate, coordinated responses for our employee and members.
