You may find that these challenges make it difficult to stay on track with your prescribed therapy schedule. Specialty medicines may have special shipping and handling needs. For example, they may need to stay at a cool temperature. Or they may need to be delivered within 24 hours. A specialty pharmacy will meet these requirements.

• In most cases, they will fill your order and deliver it to you within 24-48 hours of confirming it.
• In the event your prescription is for a medicine that Aetna Specialty Pharmacy cannot dispense due to manufacturer restrictions*, they will work for you to transition your prescription to the right specialty pharmacy that can fill it.
• If you have an urgent need and are unable to wait for a shipment from Aetna Specialty Pharmacy, they can refer you to the closest retail pharmacy that may be able to fill your prescribed specialty medicine the same day.

* Please note that there are select "limited access" specialty medicines that can only be filled through a designated pharmacy. The following are limited access specialty medicines. Neither Aetna Specialty Pharmacy nor retail pharmacies have access to dispense these.
