Company Awards
Aetna has been named FORTUNE magazine's most admired company in the Health Care:
Insurance and Managed Care category for 2008. Aetna was ranked second in the same
category in 2006 and 2007. FORTUNE ranks companies in various industry sectors in
eight categories, according to their peers.
Aetna was ranked 23rd on CRO's 100 Best Corporate Citizens 2008. The list
recognizes the corporate responsibility efforts of corporations in eight categories:
climate change, employee relations, environment, financial, governance, human
rights, lobbying and philanthropy.
Aetna is a winner in the Institute for Healthcare Advancement's 2008Health Literacy Awards.
Aetna won in the "research" category for its Asthma Health Literacy study.
The National Business Group on Health has named Aetna a 2007 winner of its
Behavioral Health Awards for
its commitment to helping workers and their families cope with mental health and
substance abuse disorders.
Aetna and Ron Williams, Chairman, CEO and President, were awarded the
A. Leon Higginbotham Corporate Leadership Award by the Lawyers' Committee
for Civil Rights Under Law, a national civil rights legal organization, for
2007. The award recognizes Aetna's long-standing record of diversity and corporate
social responsibility.
Aetna, in 2006, was awarded the Recognizing Innovation in Multicultural
Health Care Award by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for innovative
programs to deliver quality care to linguistically, racially and ethnically diverse
populations.
The National Business Coalition on Health recognized Aetna with an
eValue8TM Innovation Award in 2006 for its
Aetna Rx Check Program. Aetna was recognized in 2005 for outreach work to support
physicians treating Hispanic/Latino people with diabetes.
Aetna earned the 2006 Large/Affiliated Innovation and Excellence Award:
Chronic Care for its integrated approach to helping members with diabetes manage
their conditions. The Innovation and Excellence awards are bestowed by America's
Health Insurance Plans Foundation.
Aetna was honored with a 2005 Award for Excellence in
Workplace Volunteer Programs by The Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer
Center National Network. This international award honors businesses that have
made a commitment to effectively engaging employees in volunteering.
The 2004 HERA Award, given annually by America's Health Insurance
Plans (AHIP) and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, was bestowed on Aetna's Adolescent
Immunization Program for advancing quality in children's health and for outreach to
diverse populations.
Aetna was named one of the Top Companies for Executive Women for 2008 by the National Association for Female Executives. The list acknowledges those "in the vanguard of changing the face of executive suites and boardrooms". Aetna has been named to the list since 2002.
Felicia Norwood, President and Chief Operating Officer of Aetna's ActiveHealth Management, was named in The Network Journal's list of 25 Influential Black Women In Business, 2008. Elease E. Wright, Aetna's head of Human Resources, was named on the list in 2006.
The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and the Human Rights Campaign
have named Aetna President Mark T. Bertolini the winner of their first Healthcare Leadership Award. This 2007 award honors the person or
organization who has shown commitment to gay and lesbian equality in the health care
system.
Black Enterprise has named Aetna to its 2007 list for "Top 40 companies
for diversity," the second year in a row Aetna earned this distinction. Aetna also
was named to the 15 Best in Corporate Board Diversity and 15 Best in Senior
Management Diversity.
Aetna was named as a 2007 Readers' Choice Best Diversity Company in the
Diversity/Careers in Engineering & Information Technology
publication.
Aetna was named one of the 2007 Best Places to Work for gay, lesbian,
bisexual and transgender employees by the Human Rights Campaign. HRC recognizes
companies that have made a commitment to end discrimination on the basis of sexual
orientation and gender identity in the workplace.
Aetna received the 2007 Legacy Award for Corporation of the Year from the
100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C.Inc. The annual award recognizes those
having a significant impact on the lives of young African-American men.
Black MBA Magazine, the official publication of the National Black MBA
Association, named Aetna to its 2007 list of Top 50 Companies for Black MBAs To
Work. The list showcases companies that "make a concerted effort to recruit,
develop and retain African-American MBAs."
Essence, a lifestyle magazine for African-American women, named Aetna
as one of the 25 Great Places to Work for 2007.
Black Enterprise named Aetna Chairman, CEO and President Ronald A. Williams its
2006 Corporate Executive of the Year for his "exemplary leadership qualities"

by Consumer Reports Webwatch and the Health Improvement Institute in July 2007.

World Wide Web Health Awards, Merit award, from the Health
Information Resource Center in 2006 for Aetna's education site for health care
professionals; in 2003, a Bronze and a Merit Award for Aetna InteliHealth.
Aetna has been ranked 13th on Training magazine's Top 125 Training Companies list 2008. Aetna also made the list, which recognizes top companies of employer-sponsored workforce training and development, in 2007, 2006 and 2005.
Aetna in 2007 was recognized as a "5-Star Employer" by the Employer
Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the U.S. Department
of Defense, for going "above and beyond" federal laws relating to employment and
