Patricia A. Farrell

Senior Vice President, National, Government and Specialty Products

In this role, Ms. Farrell has oversight and responsibility for National Accounts; Public & Labor, Medicaid and the Federal Employee Benefits Program (FEHBP); and Aetna’s Specialty offerings (Dental, Life, Vision, Pharmacy, Disability, Behavioral Health and Employee Assistance Program).

Prior to her current position, she was the Senior Vice President of National and International Business Solutions.  These businesses served the needs of the nation's largest employers, as well as the federal government, state Medicaid programs, and businesses based in the United States and worldwide with employees in global locations.  Ms. Farrell also has served as Senior Vice President for Strategic Planning, where she was responsible for creating and maintaining a corporate strategy, identifying new business opportunities, assisting business units with strategy development, and overseeing the company's strategic planning process.

Since joining Aetna in 1989, Ms. Farrell has served as head of Securities and Exchange Commission Reporting, Chief of Staff to Aetna's Chief Financial Officer, and Chief of Staff to Aetna's former Chairman, Ronald E. Compton.

Ms. Farrell joined Aetna's health business in 1995 as Chief Financial Officer for the Washington, D.C. market. In 1996, she was named Chief Financial Officer for Aetna's National Accounts business, and in 1998 assumed responsibility for overseeing the national and regional finance operations for the health business. Ms. Farrell was Vice President for Aetna's Capitol Region until 2001.

Prior to joining Aetna, Ms. Farrell worked at the public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse.

A graduate of Quinnipiac University, Ms. Farrell holds a B.S. degree in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Quinnipiac University, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
