Working locally for the greater good

Through our 54 Councils and our Employee Resource Groups, we connect employees to countless non-profit organizations that encourage deeper involvement and volunteerism – the Boys and Girls Clubs, Junior Achievement, Dress for Success, local food banks and shelters – and so much more! All of this in an effort to help you and your community.

Volunteers take a break from mulching and planting in Hartford, CT.

Examples of local and national initiatives:

  • Aetna employees volunteered a day assisting Knox Parks workers by mulching and planting trees in an effort to improve the “green canopy” in Hartford. The Knox Parks Foundation has been working to green the city for over 40 years.
  • Fueled by a grant from Aetna, the National Council of Churches is developing a project, “Due Season” to eliminate racial disparities in maternal health across the country. The goal is to create a free toolkit, with input from medical professionals, church and community leaders and people with personal experience, around this issue.
  • “Camp Challenge Rides” are a major source of funding for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camps. For the fourth year, Aetna employees played a major role in these events.  We helped raise $250,000 for the camp and Team Aetna – 125 cyclists who participated in the Challenge Ride – raised an additional $20,000.  There are six camps across the nation.
