At Aetna, we know the best way to work is the one that works best for you. That’s why we offer a variety of work arrangements. These include flexible hours, job sharing, compressed work weeks, variable schedules and more. Here’s information about some of the options we offer.
Temporary
Temporary positions let you pursue your career, while exploring fresh opportunities in different parts of the company. As a temporary worker, you can gain valuable experience – and exposure – in a variety of positions throughout Aetna. Temporary positions can help you get a foot in the door, whether you’re just starting out or returning to work later in life. Aetna has temporary positions available for people at all career levels. Plus, you can work full-time or part-time schedules. And seasonal opportunities are also available.
Part Time
Part-time work at Aetna gives you more flexibility to meet personal needs. This way, you can have time for work – and time for medical appointments, child care, continuing education or other commitments. Part-time work is also a great option if you’re nearing retirement. You can cut back your work hours, while still staying involved with your job.
Aetna’s part-time employees are scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week. But you can have an uneven weekly schedule, if you need to. That means you could work 24 hours one week and 32 hours the next week, for example. So no matter how your life changes, you’ll know that your job can keep pace. Part-time work schedules may also include job-sharing, which is a full-time position shared by more than one person.
Military
As a company, we have always recognized that we have an obligation to match the commitment of our employees. Since September 11, 2001, Aetna has enhanced its military leave policies on three occasions so that our employee veterans would not worry about how to provide for their families or meet their financial obligations.
We are proud to have been recognized in 2007 as a “Five-Star Employer” by the Department of Defense agency Employer Support for the Guard and Reserves (ESGR). The “Five-Star Employer” designation by ESGR recognizes that Aetna:
Telework
With today’s technology, your office can be anywhere you are. And Aetna offers plenty of ways to let your work style fit your lifestyle. Our telework arrangements include the following workplace models: Share, Home-Based, Mobile and Client-Based.
Here’s how these models work. With the Share model, you’ll be dividing your work time between an Aetna office location and an out-of-Aetna office. Home-Based means just what it says – you’ll be working primarily from your residence. In the Mobile model, you’ll be working from your residence and from other alternate work locations. Finally, there’s the Client-Based model. Here you’ll be working mainly from a location in an Aetna client’s facility.
As a teleworker at Aetna, you may be working on your own – but you won’t be doing it alone. We know that teleworking may be a very different experience from what you’re used to. That’s why we offer training courses for teleworkers and their managers. These courses focus on many key topics, including how to make telework arrangements work best for you and your manager, how to deal with family and neighbors, and how to be a successful teleworker.
