What is an Aetna intern?
Aetna’s Undergraduate Summer Intern Program gives students a depth of experience in functional area assignments, as well as a range of experience through company-wide programs. These include classroom and e-based training, an executive speaker series, social and community service events, and a cross-functional final project. Our paid internships typically last 10-12 weeks, 40 hours a week, from May to August. Most internships are based at our corporate headquarters in Connecticut, with additional positions at Aetna offices across the country.

Our internship program offer college students like you the experience of lifetime. They give you an opportunity to use your creativity and fresh viewpoint in a health care company that thrives on change. You’ll work hard — and make a difference, too. Internships are a great way to put book knowledge to real world use. They give you a chance to explore career interests through exciting work assignments.

Aetna's Graduate Summer Associate Program
Aetna's Graduate Summer Associate Program was established to identify and develop talent for leadership positions throughout the company. The program is designed to attract high-potential graduate students by offering challenging summer assignments reflective of regular, full-time positions.

Hiring areas exist in a variety of corporate and strategic functions, typically including Aetna Global Benefits, Corporate Finance, Corporate Development, Information Technology, Operational Excellence Group, Strategic Marketing and Communications and Strategic Planning

  • Formal orientation, classroom, and e-based training
  • Weekly executive speaker series including the opportunity to learn from Aetna’s Executive Committee and senior leaders
  • In addition to managing projects in your functional area, you will also have the opportunity to work on a cross-functional final team project of strategic importance to Aetna’s business and present your research and recommendations to Aetna's Executive Committee at the end of the summer
  • Social networking and community service events offered throughout the summer

How to Qualify

  • Education or career interest in the hiring area
  • 3-5 years of related professional work experience. Prior experience in health care, consulting, or financial services industries is preferred
  • Completion of a graduate program (one year for Summer Associate Program)
